The paper considers the possibility of improving technical characteristics gas surge arresters for co-ordination insulation at low voltage, medium voltage and high levels. idea a arrester is based on application radioactive source 241Am in area cathode. Intensive ionization with alpha particles significantly increases number free electrons space between electrodes, which shortens time their transition to initial electrons. This changes Paschen curve arrester, narrows flattens its impulse characteristic reduces stochasticity response arrester. All this results significant improvement all particularly noticeable case arresters. basically theoretical-experimental research. experiments were performed under well-controlled laboratory conditions. combined measurement uncertainty measurements was acceptable.
